Better Together Community Conversations- The public is invited to share their hopes and dreams for the future of Guilford County Schools (GCS). Superintendent Dr. Whitney Oakley is continuing her series of Better Together Community Conversations. The session is from 6 to 7 p.m. at Dudley High in Greensboro.

Tame Your Stress- GCS parent academy will host a session to help families develop positive routines to promote better school attendance. Childcare and refreshments will be provided. The event starts at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in High Point.

Board of Education Work Session- At 6:00 p.m., the Guilford County Board of Education will hold a work session. The meeting will take place at 712 N. Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. The agenda may be viewed by clicking here.

Math and Science Teachers of Tomorrow- Aspiring educators are encouraged to attend a virtual interest session for a new program. Math and Science Teachers of tomorrow is a partnership between GCS and UNCG to create a pipeline for new math and science teachers. This innovative partnership will support qualified candidates who want to be a NC-licensed math or science educator. Those who apply will receive full financial support to earn a master’s degree and are eligible for both a stipend and a signing bonus. Choice Application Window Opens – Families can now apply to enroll their students in a Guilford County Schools (GCS) Choice school. GCS Choice Schools and Programs is a nationwide leader in providing innovative educational options for K-12 students and families. Schools and programs offer students the opportunity to learn the way they learn best and be mentored by passionate and knowledgeable teachers and staff. Each school and program’s design are based on research, best practices, student and family input, and feedback from employers who help the district predict the kinds of professionals they will need. Applications are posted online at gcsnc.schoolmint.net. The application window for Choice schools closes on Feb. 20 at 5 p.m.

Project Search Application Window Opens - Project SEARCH is looking for its next group of students with disabilities ready to enter the workforce. Project SEARCH is a national program that serves high school seniors with disabilities. It is targeted at students whose goal is competitive employment. Students work and learn at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and High Point Medical Center, gaining marketable work skills during three 10-week unpaid internships designed to help them explore a variety of career paths. The application window closes on March 3. Families can learn more about the program and apply here. 

The federal program covering the costs of school meals has ended. Instead, families must apply online to receive free meals by visiting www.lunchapplication.com.
