COLDWATER – Tibbits Young Audiences invites students in fourth through eighth grades to audition for their fall play, Myth-Understood, to be held August 11, 12, at 5pm at Tibbits Opera House.
In Myth-Understood, the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology share their stories with a group of young people working on a school assignment, in an effort to set the record straight. In doing so, they re-tell the myths that we’ve all heard but each with its own unique twist. Can the gods and goddesses be trusted? Audiences are invited to come along for the ride, because whether they’re the truth or not, these stories will definitely be entertaining!
Auditions will take place on stage at Tibbits Opera House. Each student is required to attend only once and should come prepared with a current, non-returnable photo, a completed audition form (available at Tibbits.org), and be accompanied by one parent or guardian. During the audition, students will introduce themselves and deliver selected readings from the script.
Myth-Understood will be directed by Jayne Lillis and produced by Tirsha Odisher. This production is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater. Students involved will learn characterization, blocking, costuming, makeup, and all aspects of a stage production.
Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to cultivate their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre. Through participation in these shows, they gain valuable insight into teamwork, discipline, theatre skills, self-confidence, and an appreciation for the arts.
