Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Top Tier Insurance Agency a 2025 Make More Happen Award for its dedicated volunteerism with the Miracle League of Franklin County. The Miracle League provides children and adults with physical, developmental, and behavioral or emotional disabilities the opportunity to experience the excitement of baseball in a safe and supportive environment. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 to Miracle League of Franklin County, which can be doubled to $10,000 by community supporters voting online.

Starting Monday, March 3, the Top Tier Insurance Agency and Miracle League of Franklin County’s story will be featured on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/ensuring-kids-of-all-abilities-can-play-ball/.  Supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a combination of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be increased to $10,000. The $10,000 donation will help the organization build a handicapped-accessible playground, complete with wheelchair swings, ensuring that all children can experience the joy of playtime together.

For over a decade, Top Tier Insurance Agency’s team has volunteered with the Miracle League, ensuring children of all abilities have the chance to "play ball." What began with agent April Cates and later expanded with agency owner Chris Nieves has grown into a full-agency commitment. Every Saturday, staff members support young athletes, many of whom would otherwise be unable to participate in traditional baseball leagues.

“We are honored and incredibly grateful to receive the 2025 Make More Happen Award, allowing us to continue giving back to our community and supporting the Miracle League of Franklin County,” said Cates. “The Miracle League has made a significant impact, not only in Franklin County but also in the surrounding areas of Vance, Granville, Warren, and Northern Wake in North Carolina. We are thrilled at the opportunity to double this donation with community support.”

The Miracle League provides players with an authentic baseball experience, from personalized walk-up songs to the thrill of hitting the ball and rounding the bases to the cheers of enthusiastic crowds. “As soon as they get out of the car, they’re looking for that familiar face to spend the day playing baseball on the field made just for them. Each game is a celebration of their abilities, not their disabilities,” said Cates.

Beyond game days, Top Tier Insurance Agency actively supports the Miracle League’s community initiatives, including Christmas parades, movie nights, and Autism Community Day. They have also contributed to the construction of an accessible baseball field and fieldhouse.

Throughout 2025, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications showcasing their commitment to a specific cause.
