Council Updates

Upcoming Public Hearings

The following Public Hearings will take place at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 10 at the Addison TreeHouse. The meeting begins at 7:30pm, but work sessions are frequently held before the regular session. The agenda will be posted on the Town's website three days prior to the meeting.

Case 1866-SUP/5100 Belt Line Road, Suite #728 (Nando's). Hold a Public Hearing on a Recommendation regarding an Ordinance Approving a Special Use Permit (SUP) for Property Located at 5100 Belt Line Road, Suite #728, that is currently zoned Planned Development (PD), through Ordinance Nos. O12-002 and O20-08, to allow a Restaurant with the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages for On-Premises Consumption.

Case 1867-SUP/5290 Belt Line Road, Suite #134 (Modern Animal).  Hold a Public Hearing on a Recommendation regarding an Ordinance Approving a Special Use Permit (SUP) for Property Located at 5290 Belt Line Road, Suite #134 that is currently zoned Planned Development (PD), Ordinance No. O22-3, to allow a Veterinarian Hospital. 

Case 1869-Z/5100 Belt Line Road (VoP Office/Retail Building). Hold a Public Hearing on a Recommendation regarding an Ordinance Amending the Development Plans for Planned Development (PD) District Ordinance Nos. O12-002 and O20-08 for a 31.608 Acre Property located at 5100 Belt Line Road, to Allow for Modifications to a proposed Retail and Office Building and associated Site Improvements. 

Sky Harbor Capital, LLC: Public Hearing regarding the issuance of tax-exempt private activity bonds for the purpose of constructing private executive aircraft hangars. The private activity bonds will be issued by an entity called Public Finance Authority for Sky Harbor Capital, LLC’s executive hangar project at the Addison Airport. The private activity bonds do not constitute an obligation or liability of the Town of Addison. The public hearing is required to satisfy Section 147(f) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and Wisconsin State Law. The full public hearing notice is posted on the Town’s website. To learn more about this item, please refer to the agenda memo on the topic as part of the January 10 City Council Agenda.

Community Meeting to Discuss Addison's Housing and Redevelopment Policy Scheduled for February 15

In response to questions regarding the Town's approach to its housing and redevelopment policy by a group of residents, a special community meeting has been scheduled for 6pm on Wednesday, February 15 at the Addison Conference Centre to discuss the topic in more detail.

David Gaines Takes the Helm as Addison's New City Manager

On Tuesday, January 3, David Gaines started off his first day as Addison's new city manager with coffee with the department directors and a meeting with Mayor Joe Chow. Addison is hosting a Meet and Greet for residents on Wednesday, January 25 from 5pm - 6:30pm at the Athletic Club. Make plans to stop by and welcome David to Addison.

During the City Council's search for a new city manager, Executive Director of Business Performance and Innovation Hamid Khaleghipour served as the interim city manager. Hamid was recently recognized for 25 years with Addison and over the past few months his dedication to the community was never more obvious. Thank you, Hamid, for sharing your leadership and humor with the entire town over the past five months.

Recycling Events Raise More Than $4,000 for Metrocrest Services

Mayor Joe Chow and Environmental Health Manager Sandra Long stopped by Metrocrest Services on Monday, January 3 to drop off a check for more than $4,100. These funds came from recycling donations collected during the Town's 2022 sustainability events. Many thanks to everyone who contributed. The next recycling event is scheduled for April 29, so stay tuned for more details.

DART Silver Line Community Meeting Planned for January 19

DART and its Design-Build Contractor, Archer Western Herzog (AWH), are hosting an in-person biannual community meeting on Thursday, January 19 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the Addison TreeHouse to review the progress of the DART Silver Line Regional Rail Project.

Representatives from both organizations will be on hand to outline the latest design and construction developments and answer your questions. The project will provide regional rail service along the 26-mile-long Silver Line corridor from DFW International Airport to Plano.

Outcry Theater's Sunday in the Park with George Opens January 13

Inspired by the painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat,  Outcry Theatre's production of Sunday in the Park with George opens at the Addison Theatre Centre on January 13 and runs through January 22. One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, this moving study of the enigmatic painter, Georges Seurat, won a Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for an astounding ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
