From: Town Of Concord"I am very pleased to welcome Eric Simms to the Town of Concord as Director of Sustainability," announced Kerry Lafleur, Town Manager. "Eric brings a wealth of experience to the position, having devoted his career to advancing environmental stewardship, literacy, and sustainability across a broad spectrum of audiences."
Eric held the position of Educational Programs Manager at the Harvard University Center for the Environment, where he managed a portfolio of co-curricular educational programs and initiatives serving Harvard undergraduate and graduate students looking to expand their understanding and knowledge of interdisciplinary energy and environmental issues. Eric has a master’s degree in Ecology and Evolution from the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University and spent six years with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography as a science education specialist. In his spare time, Eric is a member of his community’s Energy and Climate Committee and the Sudbury, Assabet & Concord (SuAsCo) Stewardship Council.
Eric’s science-based approach to environmental and energy issues, communication skills, and project management experience is particularly well suited to moving Concord’s ambitious climate and sustainability program forward. As our sustainability success is dependent on the collective effort of the community and all town departments, Eric looks forward to working with all of you. As your schedules allow, please drop by the Town House to welcome Eric to the team. He surely has a fish tale or two to share!
