Statement on the Stone Academy Situation

Mayor Mike Walsh is very concerned with the Stone Academy situation and feels deeply for all affected students. The Mayor’s Office has reached out to the Office of Higher Education (OHE) to get a clarification on what can be done to support all affected students.

The Office of Higher Education is the agency that will be working to find a solution for each student. Below is the information that OHE wants every affected student to know:

- Each Stone Academy student has received a letter from the Office of Higher Education with details on the situation that led to the closure of Stone Academy, and guidance for students on how to proceed. You can read the letter at this link https://www.ohe.ct.gov/docs/ClosureLetterStoneAcademyStudents.pdf.

The letter includes a survey that each affected student must fill out. The first step for you is to fill out this survey https://forms.office.com/g/pWMn7szZ5F.

In the survey, students are encouraged to include any questions and concerns they may have. Once submitted, students will be assigned a case manager who will serve as their advisor on how to proceed further. Because each student’s case is unique, the case manager will work directly with each affected student to find the best solution for them.

- The Office of Higher Education will be hosting a student fair in the coming weeks (end of February/beginning of March). The purpose of the fair is to assist students with their situation and help find a solution. Please keep an eye out for more details as they become available.

Lastly, please contact the Office of Higher Education at (860) - 947-1816 or email [email protected] with further questions or concerns.
