Town Manager’s Report

Dear Board Members:

I am pleased to report the following updates from Town Hall and throughout Town:

- Tyngsborough’s Home Rule Legislation changing the title of Selectmen to “Select Board” was signed by the Governor on December 28th and the legislation establishing the position of Town Manager was signed on January 3rd.

-  Colin Loiselle has been appointed to the position of Assistant Town Manager. Retired Lt. Steve Chaput and retired Chief Richard Burrows have been appointed as part-time special police officers to work traffic details in Tyngsborough.

-  Administration and Planning staff met with David Williams, Principal at SDG Development, to continue discussions regarding the new shared driveway between the Highway Department and Park & Ride, and related site improvements.

- On December 14th, Administration attended a Housing Choice Grant Award Announcement in Medway with the Secretary of Housing and Economic Development. The Town Manager was asked to speak about Tyngsborough’s HCG Award for the Winslow Road bridge replacement and ADA Improvements.

- On December 15th, Chateau Merrimack held a grand opening ribbon cutting with guests from the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce and 980WCAP Radio.

Assistant Town Manager’s Report

- On Wednesday we will receive bids for the Littlefield Library Rear Roof & Door replacement project as well as for the Madeline Terrace Drainage Improvements Project. We expect work for both of these projects to commence in early Spring.

- Town Administration & Engineering have submitted a grant application to the Safe Routes to School Program through MassDOT for School Zone Safety Equipment along Westford Road for the Elementary School.

- Our office is assisting the Conservation Commission with a Mass Trails Grant Application to obtain design funding for expansions to the Camp Kiwanis Trail. The expansion would include restoration of a retaining wall at the edge of the trail where it meets the shores of Long Pond as well as a viewing deck over the lake. This was part of the original plan but was scaled back due to funding. If awarded design funding, the Commission plans to seek CPC funding for the construction.
