TRANSCRIPT
“Two years ago on Jan 17th, I was sworn in as your governor. We've officially spent two years getting stuff done. When I look back on that day, I still remember sitting here with my predecessors – having breakfast before being sworn in.
I got in the truck, and I headed to the Capitol, where I would take the oath of office to serve as the 48th Governor of the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Over the last two years, my team and I have lived by three letters: G-S-D. We get **** done.
We've attracted $3 billion in private sector investments. We're no longer losing companies to other states – we're bringing new companies to Pennsylvania.
We've created over 130,000 new jobs and brought our unemployment rate to historic lows. Look, I'm competitive as hell, and Pennsylvania is winning again.
We're opening up the doors of real opportunity for more and more folks – 11,500 Pennsylvanians enrolled in an apprenticeship program and we increased funding for workforce development initiatives by 50 percent over the last two years.
On day one, we eliminated the college degree requirement to work for the Commonwealth, because success shouldn't be decided by an arbitrary requirement. Since then, 58 percent of our new hires don't have a college degree.
We invested to create 800 new state troopers and supported the hiring of 700 municipal police officers, and we invested more than $100 million in community violence prevention programs. Violent crime is down in Pennsylvania.
We repaired more poor condition bridges than any other state in the nation, and we fixed more than 12,000 miles of roadway – that'll get you from Philly to L.A. and back, twice. And we all remember how we fixed I-95 in just 12 days.
We slashed backlogs of unemployment claims, cut red tape, and sped up turnaround times of licenses and certifications – cutting weeks off of waiting times.
Through it all, we never stopped defending your fundamental freedoms, to choose, to vote, to love – and we never will.
‘We proved together that we value our freedom that comes when you live in a Commonwealth that respects you for who you are – no matter what you look like, where you come from, who you love, or who you pray to or choose not to pray to.’
Alright, that's enough. Let's keep getting **** done.”
