Under Dem-controlled legislature, Michigan will see larger year-end surpluses than previously estimated

LANSING - Earlier today, Gongwer reported that the Senate Fiscal Agency (SFA) just released the estimates that Michigan’s economy is not only growing faster than expected, but additionally, the estimated revenue for the General Fund and School Aid Fund are now more than a billion dollars higher than originally calculated.

“The Senate Fiscal Agency’s new projections prove that Democrats are building a future here in Michigan where we can grow the economy, run a fiscally responsible government, and take care of our communities at the same time,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Under Michigan Democrats, the state has a balanced budget that feeds 1.4 million public school students breakfast and lunch, expands health care, invests in our infrastructure, and brings in over a billion dollars more than thought over the next two years.

“I am proud of everything Michigan Democrats accomplished in the past two years to bring us here. Hopefully, this will remind Matt Hall and his Republican colleagues in the House that Democrats will fight to deliver for Michiganders no matter what they throw at us.”
