12:00pm to 4:00pm: 2nd Annual Mr. & Miss Puerto Rico Pageant
The Mr. & Miss Waterbury Puerto Rico Pageant (please note that it's not a "beauty" pageant) is a cultural pageant celebrating young people in the Greater Waterbury Community who want to represent the Puerto Rican Culture. For years the City of Waterbury held a Miss Waterbury Puerto Rico pageant and the women of this pageant have gone on to become leaders in our community. The new pageant will welcome men and women and is open and inclusive for any individual who self identifies in either role.

Mr. Puerto Rico of Greater Waterbury: Angelo Martone, Ponce
Miss Puerto Rico of Greater Waterbury: Jayleen Rivera, Salinas
Mr. Teen Puerto Rico of Greater Waterbury: Luis Miguel Santiago, San Juan
Miss Teen Puerto Rico of Waterbury Roseminely Cruz, San Juan
The goal of the Pageant is to educate and inspire each contestant to develop confidence and teamwork while appreciating her culture by learning about Puerto Rico. Each contestant must submit an essay about why they want to serve and give a history of their City/Town and prepare a presentation board.
?Each participant demonstrates and displays his/her uniqueness throughout different performing/quality areas: preliminary interviews, cultural costumes, opening presentation / streetwear, formal wear, and on stage question.
?The selected pageant title holders spend their reign-year meeting elected officials, attending community events, and participating in educational and recreational activities. At the end of their reign-year, each title holder receives a small scholarship.
?Registrations for the 2024 Mr. & Miss Puerto Rico Cultural pageant is open, this year we will be adding Mr. & Miss Pre Teen Puerto Rico of Greater Waterbury, and Mr. & Miss Chiquitio/a Puerto Rico of Greater Waterbury.

Since its inception, the Waterbury Puerto Rican Festival will feature some of the best local Puerto Rican talent - groups, solo artists, cultural acts - and it closes with a few well-known performers who come to the festival from Puerto Rico specifically to be part of the event.
?Attendees arrive early to grab the best space at the park, shop with the vendors, and get first dibs at the delicious food provided by both local restaurants and out-of-town vendors.
The Festival will end at 8:00 pm.

Inagural Greater Waterbury Puerto Rican Day Parade
The City of Waterbury, CT's Puerto Rican Parade will feature nearly 1,000 marching participants and is one of the largest parades in the City of Waterbury and the Naugatuck Valley region. Among the participants, you will see our honorees and delegates, local school groups, school bands, cultural groups from different countries showcasing their pride, Waterbury Police Officers and Waterbury Firefighters, the CT National Guard, music groups, entertainers, faith groups, Paso Fino Horses, clowns, media groups (radio, TV, print), sponsors, and elected officials.
Participate in the Parade: Upon approval of your application and receipt of payment, all contingents will receive parade permits, wristbands, and, if applicable, referral to float staff for design and construction of float. We look forward to celebrating another parade with you.
