Get into the Halloween spirit with an unforgettable fright-fest from the mind of horror master John Carpenter (director of, fittingly, Halloween). An always charismatic Kurt Russell stars in this 1982 classic, set in a frozen scientific outpost in a desolate Antarctic wasteland. The resident researchers soon find there are worse things than cold and boredom when their ranks are infiltrated by a shape-shifting alien, capable of perfectly mimicking any of them. As the crew succumbs to the creature one by one, tension, terror, and no small amount of gore rise to a boiling point. “The Thing is a peerless masterpiece of relentless suspense, retina-wrecking visual excess and outright, nihilistic terror.”—Adam Smith, Empire.
