In an interview on Feb 5th, Former Virginia Trump Campaign Chair John Fredericks once again blasted Winsome Earle-Sears and her campaign for governor saying she has “a lot of issues with MAGA” and she is “not the strongest candidate … by any means.” The latest GOP infighting will keep pushing Sears even further right as she proves her allegiance with extreme positions and actions like last week’s vote against the right to contraception that Sears “couldn’t resist” taking.

“Virginians need a leader who puts the Commonwealth first - instead of Winsome Earle-Sears whose only focus is rubber stamping an extreme and out-of-touch agenda. In Sears’ race to the far-right, the biggest loser will always be Virginia as Sears refuses to condemn the pardons of violent January 6th criminals and stand up for the Commonwealth while the Trump Administration attacks local jobs, ” said DPVA Spokesperson Maggie Amjad.

What you need to know about Sears’ race to the right: 

- Sears “couldn’t resist” voting against a bill that would guarantee Virginia women’s access to contraception.

- Sears has declared she is “standing shoulder to shoulder” in the fight against IVF. 

- Sears has been silent as thousands of Virginia jobs and federal investments in economic development and disaster relief have come under attack by the Trump Administration.

- Sears has also refused to speak out against the pardons of violent January 6th criminals.  

- Sears has stood by and watched Virginia community health centers close, due to the federal funding freeze, preventing Virginians from accessing the care they need.
