Winsome Earle-Sears Refuses to Stand Up for Virginians’ Livelihoods

This weekend, Winsome Earle-Sears reiterated that she won’t stand up for Virginia’s workforce and economy as they are threatened by Donald Trump’s efforts that have put more than 140,000 Virginians at risk of losing their jobs. This comes after Sears told the Fredericksburg Free Press that Virginians who are laid off will be “all right” and is glad that “the President is getting to the bottom of all this.”

Both Sears and Governor Glenn Youngkin have repeatedly suggested that Virginians facing layoffs and financial distress could easily transition to new jobs in the private sector.

“Winsome Earle-Sears’ refusal to stand up for Virginians’ livelihoods proves her complete disconnect from the reality of what these workers face and the devastating impact these cuts will have on Virginia’s economy,” said DPVA Communications Director Kelsey Carolan. “Virginians deserve a governor who will fight for them–not someone who aligns themselves 100-percent with a president who is actively hurting Virginia’s workforce and economy.”
