From: Woodland Opera House TheatreNew! Workshop – “Game On! Theatre Games for Performance” is a playful workshop that utilizes theatre games to build performance skills, including general physical fitness. Through ridiculously fun games, students develop quick thinking, adaptability, creativity, strength, balance, and agility. Emphasizing confidence-building and teamwork, this course refines individual and ensemble performance techniques. By immersing themselves in stimulating theatre games, students have tons of fun while cultivating evergreen performance skills.
Taught by: Woodland Opera House Executive Director, Tom Burmester.
Tuition: $160 (50% discount for currently enrolled students)
When: Mondays, 6:00 p.m. to 6:55 p.m.
Ages: 10 to 17 years old
Dates: September 25th through November 13th (classes pro-rate for late enrollments).
Dr. Tom Burmester is the Executive Director of the Woodland Opera House and an experienced theatre professional with a PhD in Fun and Play (no joke!). As an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Theatre at St. Mary’s College and a seasoned instructor at UCLA and UC Davis, Tom has spent over a decade teaching courses like Acting, Collaboration Workshop, Movement for Theatre, Theatre Athletics, and Directing for Theatre. Tom's training approach embraces gameplay as a modality, emphasizing the cultivation of intrinsic motivation to empower students and foster autonomy in their practice.
