ELECTIONS NOTICE
The West Virginia State Democratic Executive Committee (WVSDEC) will conduct elections for State Senate District 7 male or non-binary representative, State Senate District 11 male or non-binary representative, State Senate District 12 female or non-binary representative, and Treasurer.
Nominations and elections for these positions will be in this order:
State Senate District 7 male or non-binary representative
Requirements: Candidates for State Senate District 7 male or non-binary representative shall be a registered Democrat in the state of WV, and shall reside in one of the following counties in State Senate District 7: SD 7 part of Kanawha (see State senate map or contact county clerks for specifics), or Kanawha, Boone, Lincoln and Logan .
Duties: The State Senate District 7 male or non-binary representative will be a member of the WVSDEC which meets at least four (4) times a year, some in-person. The duties of the WVSDEC are provided for in the Bylaws of the West Virginia Democratic Party.
Term: This election will fill an unexpired term which will end on the election of their successor.
State Senate District 11 male or non-binary representative
Requirements: Candidates for State Senate District 11 male or non-binary representative shall be a registered Democrat in the state of WV, and shall reside in one of the following counties in Senate District 11: Barbour, Braxton, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Upshur, or Webster.
Duties: The State Senate District 11 male or non-binary representative will be a member of the WVSDEC which meets at least four (4) times a year, some of which are in-person. The duties of the WVSDEC are provided for in the Bylaws of the West Virginia Democratic Party.
Term: This election will fill an unexpired term which will end on the election of their successor.
State Senate District 12 female or non-binary representative
Requirements: Candidates for State Senate District 12 female or non-binary representative shall be a registered Democrat in the state of WV, and shall reside in one of the following counties in State Senate District 12: SD12 part of Taylor County (see State senate map or contact county clerk for specifics), or Calhoun, Gilmer, or Lewis.
Duties: The State Senate District 12 female or non-binary representative will be a member of the WVSDEC which meets at least four (4) times a year, some of which are in-person. The duties of the WVSDEC are provided for in the Bylaws of the West Virginia Democratic Party.
Term: This election will fill an unexpired term which will end on the election of their successor.
Treasurer
Requirements: Candidates for Treasurer shall be a registered male or non-binary Democrat in the state of WV.
Duties: The Treasurer shall receive all committee funds and shall disburse the same on order of the WVSDEC or Chair. They shall make a report of all receipts and disbursements at each regularly scheduled WVSDEC meeting.
Term: This election will fill an unexpired term which will end on June 30, 2026, or when their successor is elected.
Procedure for nominations and elections: All nominations shall be made by WVSDEC members. Members can self-nominate. Seconds to nominations are not required. The initial person that nominates a candidate will have 30 seconds to speak in favor of their nominee. All candidates will have 1 minute to speak. Note that based on the time available and the remaining agenda, these times may be lengthened or shortened. All votes will be made using Zoom polling.
