Values and Mission
YMCA programming, youth sports, swim lessons and all other Y activities are all rooted in the mission of the YMCA. As a YMCA member, we hope you will reflect on our four core values as well. We feel that these values will promote character in our youth and adults and reflect the true spirit of our organization.
Caring to demonstrate a sincere concern for others, for their needs and well being. Symbolized by the color red for the heart, caring promotes love and tolerance for fellow human beings.
Responsibility is to do what is right - what I ought to do, to be accountable for my choice of behavior and actions and my promises. This is symbolized by the color green for the nature and our responsibility for the world around us and ourselves.
core valuesHonesty to tell the truth, to demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness through actions that are in keeping truth with my stated positions and beliefs. Honesty is symbolized by blue for "true blue", the value of honor and truthfulness in our lives.
Respect to treat others, as I would want them to treat me, to value the worth of every person, including myself. The color gold represents the respect core value, for the "golden rule", treating others as we ourselves wish to be treated.
