Mission Statement:
To present, cultivate and celebrate the diverse artistic and literary heritage that represents people of African descent and to share their influence and creative vision on the world’s stage.
Objectives and Goals:
To engage our artists and production staff in every aspect of the production process and methodology in the theatre and to fill the current vacuum within New Jersey, for the theatre- going community who are seeking to support venues that are producing plays by, and about people of African descent. Secondly, to furnish our audiences from the tri-state area, the community of Newark and the surrounding towns with a rich and realistic theatrical/cultural experience using the theatre and the performing arts to address social, cultural and humanitarian issues relating to African and African-American life, and the historic experience in urban areas of America. Also to empower teenagers and give them the tools necessary to make wise choices throughout their lives by means of the performing arts.
To develop problem solving and communications skills by means of artistic work; along with leadership qualities to motivate ourselves as cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, cultural shareholders and artists. To cultivate new audience, new funding sources, establish strategic alliances and to expand our support base as a regional theatre and performing arts organization within the state of New Jersey. To make African Globe accessible to community agencies, other cultural leaders, diverse ethnic groups and immigrant communities who can use our venue to produce, present and undertake a wide variety of cultural events, arts and entertainment activities and programs.
