Our Mission
Agape Villages strives to create a community to heal the HEARTS of CHILDREN and build FAMILIES that surround them.
About Us
Agape Villages (then known as Sierra Children's Home) began its ministry to children in 1957. Half a century later, our commitment to help children heal and provide them with a nurturing environment continues to be the task that challenges each new day.
Beginning as a small children's home, located in Solano County that served dependent abused and neglected children, Agape's initial program evolved into a network of regional group homes. Established as a ministry of caring, Christian people, the original program became an effective, multi-service, residential treatment facility committed to serving some of California's most troubled young people.
Today, children without safe homes are depending on Agape Villages to help them reshape their futures. Agape Villages Foster Family Agency is recruiting, training, certifying and then supervising and supporting families who chose to become foster parents to homeless children.
As needs for care and service have changed through the years, so have the programs provided by Agape. Though specific programs are developed to respond to changing needs, commitment to the Christian principles that energized its birth remains constant. As always, Agape remains dependent on contributions received from individuals, groups and organizations that share their concern for those served.
Forty plus years have witnessed many changes but more significant than change is the heritage of compassion and service these years have created.
Building on the foundation that was laid in 1957, the ministry of Agape Villages continues to make use of the most current and effective strategies for supporting and promoting a healthy future in the lives of the children we serve. Tomorrow holds little hope for many children unless Agape's mission is achieved.
