The Al Raby School is a small, student-centered high school with a focus on community and environment.
It is named for the late Albert Raby, a civil rights leader, educator, environmentalist and Co-Chairman of the Chicago Freedom Movement with Martin Luther King, Jr.

Following in his footsteps, the Al Raby School for Community and Environment intends to graduate citizens who are equipped to tackle social justice and environmental issues, as well as succeed in college, a trade school, or whatever post-secondary options they may choose.

This school is a state-of-the-art environmental high school with the community at its focus.
Students will learn Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping technology in their freshman year, which will help them visualize how social and environmental issues impact the place where they live. GIS will be integrated into all aspects of the small school's curriculum.

Before their freshman year, students will take part in a nature experience at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, where they will learn about ecology, conservation, and the environment, as well as begin to build relationships with teachers and other students that will carry them through the next four years.

The Raby School is a college preparatory high school.
We plan to expect much from our students, and in return they will receive many opportunities to demonstrate their skills, to gain new knowledge, and to enjoy their own education.
