The Alternative Humane Society is an all-volunteer, nonprofit animal welfare organization serving Whatcom County, WA. AHS has been helping animals and educating the public since 1977. We have no shelter, office, or paid staff. Our programs include Canine Foster & Adoption, Spay & Neuter Assistance, and Community Cats Information and Referral. We have many different volunteer opportunities. Some are long term, some are temporary or seasonal. Some require a considerable time commitment, while others can be done with 30 minutes every week. Training and necessary supplies are provided. In addition to volunteers we are also in need of foster homes. Fostering is free and save lives!
