About Amador City

A charming gold rush town located along historic Highway 49 in California's Gold Country. One of the state's smallest incorporated cities, Amador City, with a population of just over 200 residents, is truly a little city with a lot to offer.

Original mining-era buildings are now home to unique shops including antique stores, boutiques, art galleries, and museums. Dining options include an artisan bakery, old-fashioned soda fountain, "surf and turf" and four-star gourmet dinners. Two historic Bed & Breakfast Inns allow visitors an opportunity to stay and enjoy Amador City's small town way of life.

Amador City hosts a variety of annual special events including a Spring Craft Fair held in April, Antique Fair the last Saturday in September and Calico Christmas a traditional merchant Open House.

In addition to great shopping, visitors to Amador City can enjoy other attractions such as a garden railroad, underground gold mine tours and miles of creek-lined back roads perfect for a relaxing walk or bike ride. Visitors can also spend time at more than 20 Amador County wineries, additional shopping in nearby Sutter Creek and Jackson, live theater, golf courses, fishing and gold panning.
