The Angleton Police Department was formed in 1953. At the time it was formed the police department consisted of the Chief of police and two patrolmen. The police department now has 37 sworn officers and 13 civilian personnel serving a population of nearly 20,000 residents.

The Angleton Police Department is made up of 36 sworn full time police officers, 11 communications/support staff, approximately 10 reserve officers and 2 Animal Control Officers.
