First, friendly dedicated people who care will greet you and make you feel welcomed. Our desire is to practice pure non-denominational New Testament Christianity. We believe God is real and has created the world (Genesis 1:1). We believe God desires that all men be saved (2Timothy 2:1-4) and sent His Son, Jesus Christ so that all men could be forgiven of their sins (John 3:16). We believe and put into practice Ephesians 4:32 where the Bible says, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Anybody, regardless of race, age, gender, social status, or any other quality is welcomed to any and all of our services. Christ died for all, and his gospel is for the world (Matthew 28:18-20).
Second, a Bible-centered service will be conducted. Whether we are trying to worship God, study His word, or simply live right in His sight, we seek Bible authority. The Bible teaches five biblical avenues of worship to God: Prayer (Acts 2:42), Song (Ephesians 5:19), Communion (Acts 20:-7), Instruction (Acts 20:7), and Giving (1Corinthians 16:2). The Bible teaches that one must be diligent in the study of the Bible in order to be pleasing to God (2Timothy 2:15; Acts 17:11). Thus, as we strive to be members of the Church which Jesus established in Matthew 16:18, we look fro biblical authority for all we say and do. Paul said it clearly when he commanded: "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (Colossians 3:17). When you attend the Ashland Church of Christ, we would encourage you to utilize an open approach. We want you to have an open-mind, an open-heart, and most of all, an open Bible.
Third, God's plan for man's salvation will be taught. The relationship that matters most in this world is the relationship which any man has with God. God has taught how man can be saved. In Acts 8:26-40, there is recorded the conversion of the man known as the Ethiopian Eunuch. Philip taught him the word of God starting in Isaiah. From the text one can learn that the Eunuch heard the word of God as Philip taught him, he believed it as he stated that belief in Acts 8:37b, he repented of his sins as he immediately obeyed, he confessed Jesus again in Acts 8:37b, he was baptized in verse 38, and he remained faithful to the Lord implied in verse 39. Thus, if one wants to be saved spiritually, then he must hear, believe, repent, confess, be baptized, and live faithfully.
Fourth, a biblical purpose is provided by the church in Ashland. The church is responsible for worshipping God (John 4:24), reaching the spiritually lost (Matthew 28:18-20), building up the saved (1Thessalonians 5:11), and helping those who are less fortunate (Galatians 6:10). The Ashland Church of Christ seeks to fulfill each of these responsibilities by worshipping God twice on Sundays through the five avenues of worship, by studying the Bible to better understand God's will for man, by seeking to reach the lost, and by helping through benevolence those who are not as fortunate.
Fifth, if you have any questions, we will try to help. We will not tell you what we think or how we feel. Rather, we will try to provide you with biblical answers to any questions you have. If we do not know how to answer them, then we will take the time to look for an answer from God's word. Jeremiah said, "O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps" (Jeremiah 10:23). God knows what is best for man and we will strive to find Bible answers to any spiritual question.
