About
The Avery Arts Council was founded in May 1977 as a non-profit arts organization to promote cultural arts in Avery County. For almost 30 years, the Council has brought arts programs to the children in Avery County schools. Today, the Council strives to be the arts and cultural center of Avery County.
The Council is governed by a 9 member volunteer board of directors and employs one executive director. Funding for the Council is provided by individual and business membership contributions; income from AAC sponsored events and fundraisers; and grants, including the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Grant Program.
