About Us:

Located at the intersection of Webb Chapel Road and El Centro Drive, the Bachman Lake branch library opened in September 2008 after 47 years in its old location. The new 21,000 square foot library is an environmentally friendly building, with a geothermal heating and cooling system, energy efficient lighting and low water use landscaping. The library is the second branch in Dallas to house a Black Box Theater which is used jointly with the Office of Cultural Affairs. The building also includes two class rooms with state of the art media projection systems. Visitors to the library can take advantage of free WiFi access plus 24 computers for public use.

The artwork featured in the reading area of the main room consists of a suite of sixty drawings presented in a diptych format to indicate pages in a book. The art, entitled Split Second, was created by local noted artist, Linnea Glatt. The drawings are subtle in appearance and subtle in their life message about the passage of time.

Bachman Lake features a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren center, storytimes for children and E.S.L classes.
