Barrett Hospital and HealthCare is proud to serve the more than 12,000 people who live in Southwestern Montana as well as our visitors. The hospital has been a vital part of the community, providing quality, compassionate care since 1922.
In June 2012, we moved into our new, 83,000 square foot state-of-the-art hospital. Our new hospital received LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification, which is very complimentary of our healing environment.
Since moving into our new hospital, we've continued to work hard to expand services and improve access to healthcare to all we serve. We have welcomed three new hospital providers and two new clinic providers. We will also welcome two new family practice/obstetrics physicians by late summer 2014. We've increased our onsite radiologist coverage to 4 days per week as well as increased access to interventional radiology procedures. We have developed an outpatient infusion center and have added full pulmonary function testing. Our Walk-in Clinic opened in February 2014 in our clinic building. Also, we created a specialty clinic on the lower level of our clinic building and added ENT and oncology visiting specialists. Our PT and OT department was expanded as well. In 2015, epidural pain management was introduced as a new Obstetrics Service. We will continue to look at opportunities to grow our services to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
In March 2014, we implemented EPIC, a new electronic health record (EHR), in our hospital and clinic through Providence Health and Services Community Connect. The EHR connects patients and physicians electronically, enabling higher quality and more personalized care throughout the region. Additionally, patients are able to have secure, online access to their health record through the convenience of the MyChart patient portal. MyChart allows patients to use the internet to help manage and receive information about their health, allowing greater participation in their care.
We are proud that Barrett Hospital and HealthCare has been recognized as an iVantage Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In addition, we are very pleased to be chosen as a National Rural Health Association Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in the U.S. in 2015. This recognition is a testament to our staff, medical providers and board's dedication to our patients and to providing safe, high value and compassionate care.
