Baughman Memorial Church is heavily involved in the support of international, national, and local missional efforts. We support two missionary families: one in Nigeria and the other in Kentucky, a part of the Red Bird Mission. The Kentucky missionaries are fourth grade teachers and part of a ministry team at Red Bird. Each year we contribute money to their support, plus additional gifts such as help with an airplane radio. As an airline pilot by trade, his plane is the life-blood in the communities in which he serves. We have worked with resettlement programs for refugees, with two families who came from Viet Nam. Over a period of three or four months, we have been nurturing them along with help in jobs, language, and culture, and both are doing fine on their own.
The church has initiated and still supports a well- drilling operation in Sierra Leone. By purchasing a well- drilling machine, shipping it to Sierra Leone, and training persons there, we have been able to help the local people find fresh water for their families. We have twice within recent years, extended our hands with toothbrushes and dental aid as one of our members travels to Honduras through Medico -- a missional group concerned about health needs.
