Bay Farm's learning community of students, teachers, parents, and community members have been involved in developing a common vision and expectations for student learning since Bay Farm opened 12 years ago. Together the faculty and the community adopted the guiding vision of "It takes a village to raise a child" and set about to create behavior, learning, and safety expectations as a total community, which we review and modify together annually. Building upon our district's Graduate Profile for 2005 together we have aligned benchmarks and state standards to develop grade level expectations in all curricular areas. Monthly PTA and School Site Council (SSC) meetings feature presentations on different aspects of our student programs including the reviews and discussions of state/school grade level standards in the core curriculum and school safety issues.

Bay Farm School is a partnership of school, home and community which is committed to providing effective instruction and quality programs which recognize individual differences, strives to work well with others from diverse backgrounds and accept and rejoice in diversity. A second focus is to develop sensitivity to and an understanding of the needs, opinions concerns, and customs of others.
