Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Based Program is a one-to-one mentoring program that serves children ages 6-12 in the community. We match a volunteer and a youth, based on compatibility, to go out into the community two to four times a month for two to four hours at a time. Together, the volunteer and youth create a mentoring relationship to help further the healthy development of the youth. Some examples of outings include going to the park, getting ice cream, visiting a museum, riding a bike, etc.

To become a volunteer, you must be 18 years of age and older, have reliable car insurance and car transportation. The accepted volunteers will undergo a background check, fingerprint scan, Mandated Reporter training, and a Child Safety Training.
Youth must satisfy two of the three requirements to participate ; receive free or reduced school lunch, live in a non-traditional household, and have a previously or currently incarcerated parent or loved one.
