Maywood, with a population of approximately 9,600, is nestled within the busy hub of central Bergen County, untouched by the whirring traffic of nearby Interstate 80 and Routes 4 and 17. The Borough covers 1.29 square miles and you can walk to just about anywhere on the well-maintained sidewalks and streets.  Walk through the best downtown shopping in the County along our "main street on a side street" Pleasant Avenue, or to many of the local shops and restaurants along Passaic Street, Spring Valley Avenue, Essex Street, Hergesell Avenue or Maywood Avenue.  Many of our local businesses are owned and operated by Maywood residents.

Town events such as the annual Fourth of July Fireworks and Parade, Maywood Fall Festival, the arrival of Santa Claus on Pleasant Avenue with our annual tree lighting, or coming together to help people in need as we did during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, show what a wonderful community we have - where neighbors care about and respect each other. 

Our small town has one of the best public libraries in the region, a fantastic youth sports and recreation program and a beautifully restored historic train station museum along Maywood Avenue. And we have the best elementary schools in the region. Maywood has a small town feel that you just can't find anywhere else in Bergen County.
