Bowie Citizens for Local Animal Welfare (Bowie CLAW) is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization located in Bowie, Maryland. The mission of Bowie CLAW is to advocate for the interests of animals in the greater Bowie area. For many years, the members of Bowie CLAW have advocated for the establishment of a local animal holding facility to assist with placement of Bowie's homeless animals and the return of lost animals. We are thrilled to announce that our efforts have been successful and the City of Bowie will soon be opening such a facility in City Hall. CLAW will be donating up to $104,000 to defray the costs of the shelter's construction and hopes to remain deeply involved in the operation of the facility. Bowie CLAW also runs a Pet Assistance & Support (PAS) program, which provides pet food, toys, and cat litter to area residents who are struggling to afford their pets' needs in this challenging economy. In addition, Bowie CLAW assistsPrince George's Animal Management and other local rescue organizations in the placement of adoptable pets.
