About Us :

The name for Boyle County was selected in 1842 to honor Judge John Boyle, an able and prominent justice in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. A state legislator for three terms, Boyle turned down opportunities to serve as a territorial governor and later as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. He chose to serve the state, first as Chief Justice for nearly seventeen years and then as a District Judge for Kentucky. Boyle died in 1835.

The county is located in the Bluegrass plateau area of central Kentucky, and was formed from lands previously part of Mercer and Lincoln counties. The county seat is at Danville.
