Mission Statement
To promote health, social, educational, vocational and character development as means to inspire and enable all youth to realize their full potential as caring and productive citizens.
Our History
In April of 1982, a group of concerned parents with the leadership of Jess Wilkinson and Brady Pickle, got together with the idea of starting a recreation club for youth. After a six months of meetings with community members and representatives from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a local club was established.
The Club began establishing the community’s youth sports program and special events in the park. In May of 1987 a renovated church facility was donated to the Club. The Club now had a place for educational and recreational activities. The 3,000-sq. ft. building was home to 250 kids ages 6 to 18.
In 1994 the Club hired its first professional leader with Boys & Girls Club experience. With his 22 years of Club experience, Executive Director Kevin McLaughlin, brought a new vision to the program. His leadership brought new financial security and began steps toward the building of a new dedication recreation facility.
In the spring of 2000, the Boys & Girls Club of Sweet Home, through partnerships with the local school district, senior center and community contractors and businesses, opened the doors to a brand new 26,000 sq. ft. youth & community recreation facility and enrolled nearly 1,000 members.
