To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to reach their full potential to become productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula is dedicated to serving the cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the youth of our community. We emphasize fun, good character, and responsible citizenship.
Our organization started in 1946 as the Boys Club of Newport News on 28th Street. The Club was formed to give boys a positive outlet and to provide much needed guidance. In 1958, the Club changed its name to Boys Club of the Virginia Peninsula and opened a new facility at 5900 Jefferson Avenue. In 1991, our organization began serving girls and became the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula.
