Welcome to Breen Elementary! We opened in late August 1994, with 177 students, 6 classes, and a very limited area for a playground. As we now approach our thirteenth year in full operation, our enrollment is expected to be approximately 660 students.

From the onset, Breen has used the motto: Breen Team (Team = Together Each Achieves More). We fully embrace this motto, recognizing that staff, students, families, and community comprise the “team.” Our Mission Statement reads:

“Breen provides a safe, nurturing, educational environment and is dedicated to developing creative, critical thinkers who will become confident, independent, civic-minded citizens.”


We encourage your participation and involvement in many different ways…from working directly in the classroom with individual or small groups of children to assisting in the planning and implementation of special programs such as Garden of Learning, Rep. Council, field trips, and numerous other opportunities.


Students will find Breen to be a positive, nurturing setting which reflects the belief that every child can and wants to learn. Classroom activities are designed to accommodate the variety of ways in which children learn best, using all their senses while being actively engaged. Students are empowered and supported in accepting an active role as learners and responsible individuals. Each child is encouraged to work from a base of strength in areas that are unfamiliar, accepting the challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. All adults are encouraged to support and affirm the students’ efforts as they undertake these challenges.
