Calypso Farm and Ecology Center:
We offer a full array of seasonal produce throughout the season, starting in late May or early June and going through the end of September. We do ask CSA shareholders to contribute 4 hours of work sometime during the season. We offer scheduled work days or specialized work projects (you don't just have to help in the field - you can collect recipes, etc.)
Calypso Farm and Ecology Center is a nonprofit, educational farm. We are located on 30 acres in Interior Alaska and have 3 acres in production. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers and integrate dairy goats, shetland sheep and chickens into the farm system. The majority of our produce is marketed through a CSA. Harvest shares are provided for 18 - 20 weeks (late May - early October). We also sell cut flowers for special events. Flowers are available from mid July through September.
Calypso's educational programs include farm field trips, an extensive network of school gardens and gardening workshops. We also offer serveral types of educational internships and apprenticeships. These seasonal positions are posted on our website each year in October.
Please contact us about the many volunteer opportunities that we have.
