About:
First and foremost thank your for visiting our site and reading our story. In the late 1800’s our great grandfather purchased the front half of our current farm at a sheriffs auction. Soon after, he began a tradition of family farming that is still practice at Cardinal Woods’s Farms today. In the late 1930’s our grandfather began his farming career that lasted his entire life. During his career he was able to purchase an adjoining farm that makes up the farm today.
Growing up we spent many summers and weekend on the farm working and enjoying the life only a farm can bring. We inherited the farm in 1999 and immediately decided to enroll the farm in the State Delaware Farm Land Preservation Program, keeping it from ever being developed and permanently operating as a farm. We choose to continue to grow tradition grain crops as well as begin to grow Christmas Trees. We panted our first Christmas Trees in 2002 and began to sell them in 2010. In 2002 we also decided to do a completed renovation of the 250-year-old farmhouse.
Though the years we have partnered with the State of Delaware for various projects and in 1998 won the Sate of Delaware Governors Conservation award for excellence. Today we have several thousand trees growing on our farm and are adding another 6,000 in the coming years. We look forward to seeing you at Cardinal Woods Farms.
