Cass Lake Community Library

223 Cedar
218-335-8865

History:

Our unique stone building, featured in Doug Oman's book Libraries of Minnesota, was built in the early 1940s by the local Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Commerce and Civic Association for use as a museum.

The Cass Lake Community Library opened in June 1947 in the old City Hall, organized by the League of Women Voters and American Legion Auxiliary with the help of volunteers. In November 1957 the library moved across the street to the basement of the museum building. The library joined KRLS in 1969. In June 1974 the library moved to the upstairs of the beautiful stone building where we remain today.
