Cedar Street Baptist Church began as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Metter with the first services being held in August of 1960. With Support and leadership from the First Baptist Church, the mission immediately began to grow. In July of 1961 the mission called its first Pastor and in 1962 the first deacons for the mission were selected. The mission continued to grow and in 1963 the First Baptist Church purchased land for the mission. In June 1964 ground-breaking was held for the first building.

In October of 1964 Cedar Street Baptist Church was constituted a self-supporting Southern Baptist Church.

In April of 1965 the building was completed and a dedication service was held in 1969 the church installed air-conditioning in the building and in 1970 a pastorium was purchased. The church built a new pastorium in 1978. In 1980 a new sanctuary was built and dedicated.

Present day Cedar Street Baptist Church continues to trust in God to meet all needs. Its people are friendly, its atmosphere is homey, and its faith is strong.
