Goals :
After examining the results of the PSSAs (Grade 5) and the MATs (Grades 2, 4, 6) for the past several years, the staff at Chanceford decided to focus on the goal of strengthening all students' math skills. Of particular attention was the development of strong problem-solving strategies. We are proud to announce that all of everyone's hard work and dedication "paid off," as we received a School Performance Funding Grant for the 2001-2002 school year in the amount of $10,280. This was awarded to us for the 90 point increase in our test scores. The staff used this money to purchase additional math and reading materials for instruction and to support our First Chanceford Reading Olympics. As the district is at the midpoint of implementing its Strategic Plan, Chanceford soon will review to building goal to determine if we should continue with it. If not, we will devise a new goal and design a plan to reach it.
Our Philosophy :
The overall mission of Chanceford mirrors that of the
district as a whole. Because Chanceford is the smallest of
the elementary schools, the staff feels that it has the time
and opportunity to connect with each and every student and
follow his/her progress throughout the elementary program.
This sense of community also is fostered by strong parent
support and activity.
