Mission:
The mission of CISD is to provide an educational program which will develop and enhance our students' intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth in order to encourage them to become creative, responsible, patriotic contributing members of society. Inherent within this mission is the belief that all students can learn, and that school can make a difference in the lives of its students.
Channelview ISD is a 5A school district with approximately 8000 students. It is located in Channelview, Texas, which is an unincorporated area situated on the Houston Ship Channel approximately 15 miles east of downtown Houston. The community has a "small town" atmosphere and is comprised of mostly blue collar families who care about the welfare of their children and each other.
The district has eleven campuses, an administration building, fairgrounds, maintenance headquarters and a transportation facility. There is a Pre-K center, four primary schools, three elementary schools, one junior high school, one high school, an alternative high school and a discipline school.
Channelview is experiencing tremendous student growth. Nearly all the present campuses are at capacity. Currently, the district is building a new 9th grade center with other new campuses in the developing stages.
Special programs are available to all students through accelerated programs, special education, bilingual education, English as a Second Language, vocational education, gifted and talented education, and advanced placement and honors programs.
Channelview ISD has a rich history of being "actively engaged in the future of our community" with the school district being established in 1937. At that time the district employed eight teachers. Today, the district employs approximately 905 of the finest employees found anywhere in the state of Texas. These employees are committed to making certain that each child in Channelview receives the best education possible.
