Characters of Character is a 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit organization located in Johnsburg. The founder is Joni Downey. After piloting Behavior Bear, Do'er Duck, Friendship Frog, Healthy Hippo, Manners Monkey, Respectful Rabbit, Responsible Rabbit, Self-Esteem Elephant and Warm-Hearted Walrus in a public school, they earned a National Promising Practice Award! In 2007 Joni left the school to work on this organization. Today, each of the characters offers a children's book, character posters, art projects, curriculum and are live in costumes to do classroom visits, community visits, author visits and much more. New to our program is the After-School-Program. Smiling Shamrock and the Characters of Character offer Art with a Life Lesson for the schools.
