AUTHORITY
The Council is established by action of the Charles City Board of Supervisors and serves as an advocate and advisor to the Charles City County Board of Supervisors.
MISSION & VISION
To improve health service coordination and planning in Charles City County by promoting, advocating and supporting inter-agency communication and collaboration between both public and private health service organizations.
PURPOSE
Section 1: The Council shall actively participate with Charles City County, surrounding counties, the Commonwealth, and private provider representatives in the formulation of a Comprehensive Health Plan for the development, coordination and evaluation of a Charles City County health service system.
Section 2: The Council shall make formal recommendations to the Charles City Board of Supervisors at least annually on the Comprehensive Health Plan and its implementation during the ensuing year. The Council shall develop and the Chair shall present to the Charles City Board of Supervisors its' strategic Comprehensive Health Plan following the August meeting of the Council.
Section 3: The Council shall facilitate a more responsive and knowledgeable interrelationship among local governments, public and private health agencies, and the community.
Section 4: The Council shall act as an advocate for the health needs of the citizens of Charles City County; shall work towards the expansion of and collaboration among existing programs and services; and shall recommend development of needed additional programs and services.
Section 5: The Council Shall Work To:
· Engage community leaders in participating in the County's decision-making regarding health services and health providers.
· Identify and broaden existing County health services and service agencies.
· Increase the community's knowledge of specific local needs and concerns.
· Stimulate community knowledge and recognition of the County's health services and service agencies and other community health related missions and programs.
· Provide, publicly, available information on health service resources, health services provided, health indicators, and other information relevant to improving the health of Charles City residents.
· Search out and encourage application for relevant grant funding opportunities.
