Vision Statement:

The Charter Oak Unified School District will demonstrate excellence in academics, operations, and its role as a unifying bond for the entire Charter Oak community. Charter Oak Unified will be a school district of choice, offering a premier program to retain and attract students and staff.

Focus on Student Achievement: The Superintendent is charged with collaborating with school site staff and community members in a review of District curriculum and instructional programs to identify strategies for raising student achievement on standardized tests, in courses taken, and in competencies defined by the Board. At least one program improvement strategy each at the elementary, middle and high school levels will be presented for Board approval for implementation in the 2006-07 school year.

Training and Staff Development: The Board of Education directs the Superintendent to develop and implement a system of staff training to improve the skills and effectiveness of all District employees. Training will include work skills, safety, cross-training for backup, customer service, and training in District procedures and expectations. This program is to be included in the 2006-07 budget and introduced prior to the first day of classes for the 2006-07 school year. This effect will include creating or updating procedure manuals where appropriate and review of job descriptions.

Customer Service Attitude: The Superintendent is directed to create appropriate training and staff/management awareness programs that emphasize a Customer Service attitude toward the public and other employees on the part of all employees.
