Children's Harbor is a non-profit, Community Partner of the United Way of South Hampton Roads.
ALL four of our early care and education centers have received Accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs! NAEYC Accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence. Child care centers, preschools, and kindergartens are eligible to seek NAEYC Accreditation.
Children’s Harbor Early Care and Education Centers continue to celebrate 96 years of partnering with families to develop the future leaders of Hampton Roads. This longevity of service is possible because of ongoing support from of our families, board of directors, our staff and the community. In 2006 our centers provided 1,342,755 hours of service for more than 796 children; our Community Training and Professional Development program provided 18,770 units of training for 3,591 early care and education professionals; 1,797 providers and children received services through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program; and 108 children and their families were assisted by the Emergency Voucher Program.
We proudly display the NAEYC torch – the sign of NAEYC Accreditation. Parents who look for the torch when choosing child care or early education programs for their children will find programs that have made a commitment to excellence for young children and families. The agency has grown, changed its name and merged throughout its history.
