About Us:
The City Club of Boise was founded in 1995 by Dottie Stimpson. Stimpson, a longtime community volunteer and philanthropist, felt Boise needed a venue where its citizens could learn about and discuss important issues of the day in a non-partisan, civil manner. Our motto is “Things happens when people start talking.”
Taking its cue from other established City Clubs around the country, The City Club of Boise is governed by a volunteer board and is supported by membership dues, as well as our corporate and non-profit business partners. The City Club has over 600 members and partners. In addition, sponsors help underwrite the cost of a forum.
At least once a month, the City Club hosts a lunchtime forum. A sole speaker or a panel of speakers addresses the group for 30 minutes, followed by questions from the audience for another half hour, allowing for lively discussion. We do not have a regular day for our forums, so that we can accommodate speakers’ schedules. Our forums regularly attract 200 attendees.
