The City of Dexter is a vibrant community that has more than doubled in population since 1990. Dexter boasts an active downtown, numerous parks, excellent schools, and a successful business and research complex.
Residential areas include the original settlements along the Baker Road, Central Street, and Dexter-Ann Arbor Road corridors. In the past few decades, subdivision and condominium housing has been added to both the eastern and western parts of the City.
On November 20, 2014, after a process that spanned eight years, the Village of Dexter officially became the City of Dexter after its Charter, approved by Dexter voters a few weeks prior, was filed with the State of Michigan's Office of the Great Seal.
