About Us:
La Cañada Flintridge represents the very best of California living. Although our city is only twenty minutes from downtown Los Angeles, LCF maintains a small-town atmosphere with a sense of shared family values that touches every resident. Tree-lined streets and the rolling lawns of spacious estates and colorful flowers surrounding beautiful homes set a standard of gracious living in this "glen between the hills."
A low-key lifestyle centered around children and community is central to the city's 20,318 residents. The City's public school system consistently ranks in the top five percent of California schools. Houses of worship and a variety of service organizations are an integral part of the community. Volunteers contribute more than 250,000 hours to civic causes each year.
The Foothill Boulevard business district offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and services close to home. Residents also have access to parks; a community center; YMCA; a multiplex movie theater; a library; golf, tennis and riding clubs, and scenic hiking and equestrian trails.
The climate is perfect for the variety of beautiful camellias and the live-oak forest at Descanso Gardens, a 165-acre botanical garden known throughout the nation. Our city has about 300 sunny days per year and a mean, year-round temperature of 64 degrees, with an average rainfall of about 20 inches.
Bordered by Angeles National Forest on the north, and the cities of Pasadena and Glendale on the east and south, our 8.5 square-mile city is 13 miles northeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center, with easy access to Burbank Airport.
At the forefront of the nation's space program, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory maintains it's headquarters here. A more light-hearted community source of pride is the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association's annual float entry in Pasadena's New Year's Day Parade. It is designed and constructed by community volunteers. Funding comes from the Community and the City.
