About
Cherokee Chief John Ross, 1790-1866 The centennial of any city is quite noteworthy for the things that happened during the span of 100 years. The city of Rossville has that century of history and more. Before the city was incorporated by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on Aug. 25, 1905, the history of the settlement once known as Poplar Springs spanned back another 120 years. That was to 1785, when the area was rimarily home to the Cherokee Indians, and white settlers were still quite sparse.
