The City of Sullivan operates under a Commission form of government.

The City Council consists of the Mayor and four (4) Commissioners.  The officers shall be nominated and elected to the specific office of Commissioner of Accounts and Finances, Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements, and Commissioner of Public Property. All terms of office are for four (4) years and are all elected during the same election.

All five members of the City Council serve four year terms. Current terms run through April 2019.
